Canopy respects your privacy. We are committed to protect the privacy of our clients, customers, and employees through this Policy. By using our website, you indicate your understanding and acceptance of the terms of this Policy as posted at the time of your use.

Our Promise Not to Sell or Rent Your Information

Canopy is committed not to sell or rent its client, candidate, employee, or any mailing lists to anyone. We will never disclose, rent, or sell your name or personal information to any third party. Only authorized employees and personnel of Canopy or its subsidiaries are permitted to have access to your information. All employees are required to adhere to our strict privacy policies. Canopy management considers violation of client confidentiality to be a serious infringement of Canopy policies. We consider this data to be strictly confidential and all our employees sign confidentiality agreements, which are strictly enforced. We do not disclose an individual's personal information to any third party, except as required by law to disclose personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

Our Privacy Principles

We adhere to the following privacy principles:

  1. Notice
    Canopy is primarily involved in providing information-governance consulting and litigation-support services and collects data from:

    • Clients: In connection with providing such services, Canopy receives personal information of its clients. Our clients also provide us with the personal information of their customers/clients. We adopt confidentiality measures and protect all such personal information and maintain its privacy. All information and data received by Canopy is only only used in its capacity and role as a litigation-support service provider, and the data is analyzed and processed as in accordance with our clients’ instructions.

    • Candidates: Canopy retains and maintains the contact information, resumes, and other information requested of all job candidates who apply for positions or contract work at Canopy.

    • Website Visitors: Unless otherwise stated in another, more specific policy on the webpages you are viewing, we collect general information and data from visitors visiting our website. The information collected is mainly in respect to your domain name, the webpages your internet browser visits when browsing our site, the name of the webpage from which you entered our site and data, such as the number of hits per week, per webpage. The information collected is purely used for the purposes to monitor and understand how our website is being used. By collecting this information Canopy can improve the quality of its website. We do not provide the information collected to outside parties, except for those described in the “Third Parties” section.

    • Third Parties: Canopy may use third-party storage or service-provider companies to perform some functions, including the processing of data. We ensure that such companies are under a duty of confidentiality to Canopy.

  1. Choice
    The information collected by Canopy is only utilized for the purpose described in our “Notice” section. The visitor has the choice to opt out of or limiting any use of information that is collected by Canopy. The visitor can notify any such option at policies@canopyco.io to withdraw permission to use of their personal information. When you choose to opt out, the data is not necessarily deleted or erased, but we will not utilize this data or forward it for any purpose.

  2. Onward Transfer (Transfers to Third Parties)
    Canopy may — at the direction of its clients — transfer, process, and store information in countries, including the United States in which Canopy maintains offices, or with its subsidiaries/Associate Enterprise. Data submitted to Canopy may be transferred to, processed, or stored in countries only in connection with rendering of client services.

  3. Access
    Canopy can be contacted at policies@canopyco.io in case our visitors find that they need to access and update any of their personal information with us.

  4. Data Security
    Canopy has adopted and takes all reasonable and appropriate organizational procedures to protect personal and identifiable information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. All the employees of Canopy are trained and informed to maintain the confidentiality and security of such data. All personal information is kept in a safe and secure environment. Employees are given access to the information only on a need-to-know basis. Proper password protection is used for all computers in the Canopy offices. Canopy has also adopted and has in place proper physical and managerial measures to safeguard the sensitive personal information.

  5. Data Integrity
    Canopy collects information strictly for the purposes mentioned in our Notice Section. We take reasonable efforts to ensure that the data collected by us is accurate, complete, current, and reliable for the intended use. However we do not take responsibility of accuracy of data provided or supplied to us by any third party or our clients.

  6. Enforcement
    Canopy uses the self-assessment approach to assure its compliance with this Policy. Canopy periodically verifies this Policy for accuracy, information coverage, and proper implementation. Canopy is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Filing a Complaint or Query

In case of complaints or queries raised by individuals regarding processing their personal information, you may contact us by email at privacy@canopyco.io.

Canopy will investigate and attempt to resolve complaints regarding use and disclosure of Personal Information in accordance with the principles contained in this Policy. If Canopy determines that any person in its employ is in violation of this Privacy Policy such person will be subject to disciplinary action.

If it is determined that Canopy did not comply with this Policy, Canopy will take appropriate steps to address any adverse effects and to promote future compliance.
